Let’s get serious, everyone wants to look good at the beach, and in about 6 weeks, it will finally be time! This is just the right amount of time you need to whip yourself into shape. Managing your lifestyle starts and ends with feeling good physically. Without fitness and healthy eating habits, it’s almost impossible to feel as good as all of us wants to on a daily basis. I could literally write a book on what it takes to be in tip top physical condition (which I am not currently) but I am going to share with you the 3 core elements that are a must to getting into the shape that you want to be in. The key word is balance. These elements are what I rely on to keep me consistently in decent shape, and when it is time to push (beach time,) to get to the next level.

1.)    Fuel

We’re busy! Eating right is the biggest piece of the puzzle, but because of our schedule, we wake up, run out the door to work, get home, eat pizza, have a beer and it’s off to bed. Bullet Points – Follow em:

-          Eat 5 times a day

-          Prepare your meals

-          This will keep your bod out of “starvation mode”

-          Drink 80 oz of water a day

2.)    Sweat

This is Simple! Burn more calories than you take in. BOOM! The pounds fall off. Easier said than done, follow these bullets and you’ll be cranking in no time:

-          Do cardio 3-4 times a week for 20 mins

-          Mix it up!!! Don’t just run on the tread mill. Elliptical, stair master, mill, repeat

-          Have fun with it, do something different once a week, ride a bike, play basketball, whatever, just sweat

3.)    Push

I see this all the time, particularly in women, they go to the gym three times a week, walk or jog for a little bit, ride the bike for a little bit, then head home. Their bodies stay the exact same and they get no results… Again, follow the bullets:

-          Lift 3 times a week

-          Switch body parts and mix and match so each section gets worke once a week

-          Do 3 exercises per body part, 3 sets each

-          PUSH yourself!!!

*Obviously this is extremely simplified, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me with anything that’s on your mind, I am a certified personal trainer and will do what I can to help. –Chris   (chris@thepersonalassistant.biz)
